This painting started as a school project for my high school painting class.
The objective of the assignment was to learn value by creating a grayscale acrylic grid painting of a photograph. I chose one of my own photos of a macaw as my reference, wanting to challenge myself to capture it's details.

Macaws are known for their bright, vibrant feathers. I realized I could use the greyscale of the painting to my advantage when I wanted to make this into a campaign idea. The grayscale macaw painting serves as a visual metaphor. Its lack of color represents how these birds are vanishing from nature—becoming mere shadows of their former vibrant selves. The lack of color became a powerful symbol—just as this macaw fades into the background, so do real macaws in the wild. Their populations are shrinking, and with them, their voices and presence in nature.

Someday, this may be turned into a real campaign, but right now, it's just an idea. Since it's just created as an idea, the QR code links to a YouTube video of macaws showing their beautiful sounds. When this is made into a real campaign, the QR would link to a website to donate.
